Nick grew up in the inner city of Los Angeles with his younger brother Vick — raised by a single teenage mother doing everything she could to create a safe life for her two sons. By the time Nick turned eighteen, they had moved more than fifteen times, constantly uprooted in search of stability, security, and a better future.

The constant instability, the trauma of financial anxiety, and the burden he watched his mother carry planted a fire in Nick early on. Nick began his journey in the mortgage industry as a low-level loan originator, with no industry connections or formal recognition. But with relentless drive, strategic thinking, and a deep belief in what home ownership could represent for working families, he quickly rose to the top. Over the course of nearly two decades, Nick became a nationally celebrated 4X Top 1% Mortgage Originator — personally funding over $600 million in home loans and guiding national teams responsible for over $1 billion in financing.
His meteoric rise caught the attention of real estate legend Ben Slayton, America’s first Black REALTOR® in 1964. Under Slayton’s mentorship, Nick was appointed National President of what would become Legacy Home Loans — one of the most respected and mission-driven mortgage companies in the country — making Nick one of the youngest executives in the industry at the time.
